Youth against HIV/Aids and Poverty (YAHAP) is a community based organisation operating in Vosloorus's Ward 43, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng province in South Africa. YAHAP aims to see ‘a community freed from HIV/AIDS and poverty, thriving in sustainable development’. The organisation engages in lobbying and advocacy, networking and resource mobilization. The primary targets for YAHAP’s interventions are young people (in and out of school), women, orphans and vulnerable groups such as commercial sex workers.

We are a youth organization that is focusing on social behavior and attitude change towards HIV/AIDS and Poverty. The organization supports and cares for people infected and affected by the epidemic especially youth, Children and the granny’s that care for orphans and vulnerable children. We also empower youth with life skills that will create opportunities for them.

The social and economic effects of HIV and AIDS are long term and myriad – impacting negatively on nearly every aspect of life.  At the household level the economic impacts of HIV and AIDS on families are felt prior to adult death and for years thereafter.

We target youth from poor and vulnerable homes and environment, supporting them in any way we can to make a difference in their lives and in their communities.
